Born out out of the necessity of World War ll, serving proudly in 2 wars. She is gone due to the process of budgets and modernization, but although she is gone she will never be forgotten in the hearts, minds and memories of the officers and men that served her so well.
There is no way that I can thank those that have contributed to this project, but to the many that have:
THANK YOU
This site is dedicated to the men of the Gator Navy, their history can be traced back to the civil war (click here) and the blockade of the southern coast. The high traditions established then were met, and in some cases exceded, by those that came later. So to all you Amphibious Sailors past, present and future. Enjoy this site.
This a work in progress and will be
up-dated often, I would greatly appreciate
any and all photos, videos, slides, memories, and any ideas, that you care to share.
